Baroque Noir – An Atmospheric Baroque Concert
Helderberg Village Music Society invites you to join them for Baroque Noir, a captivating programme of Italian, German and English Baroque songs presented by members of the Lutesong Consort at Helderberg Village.
This evocative recital features mezzo-soprano Lente Louw, with Rosamund Roth (viola da gamba) and Uwe Grosser (lute, chitarrone and Baroque guitar). The programme explores haunting and beautiful works built around repeating bass patterns that create a hypnotic and expressive sound world.
Highlights include music by Henry Purcell, Claudio Monteverdi and Tarquinio Merula, including Purcell’s famous Dido’s Lament and the reflective O Solitude, alongside atmospheric instrumental solos for viola da gamba.
An intimate and memorable afternoon of early music in a wonderful setting.
