ABOUT
IHAMBO YENGOMA with Andile Yenana & Dumza Maswana
“Ihambo Yengoma” is a deeply rooted musical conversation between two of South Africa’s most evocative voices in jazz, Andile Yenana and Dumza Maswana.
A master pianist, composer and cultural thinker, Yenana is known for his profound, reflective approach to jazz, one that is grounded in African identity and storytelling.
Maswana, a commanding baritone voice, has carved a distinct path by blending isiXhosa indigenous music with jazz, carrying heritage through song.
Their musical relationship runs deep. Yenana produced Maswana’s acclaimed album Celebrating African Song, and the two have shared stages at prestigious platforms such as the National Arts Festival and Standard Bank Joy of Jazz.
“Ihambo Yengoma” is more than a performance, it is a journey. Through piano, Uhadi and voice, the duo invites audiences into a space of storytelling, memory, and tradition. Rooted in the spirit of umngqungqo, this show weaves together rhythm, heritage, and contemporary jazz expression, offering an intimate and powerful musical encounter that speaks to both the past and the present.
Tickets: R300 online and R350 at the door.
