Workshop 17

ABOUT

Africa Textile Talks 2026: At a time of climate pressure, cheap imports, second-hand clothing flows and manufacturing strain, this two-day gathering asks what it will take to create textile futures that serve people, culture and nature while capturing more value from the textile value chain on African soil.

The full programme is here.

[Please note that catering is for your own account. The restaurant at Workshop 17 has prepared a light menu for us.]

Through keynotes, fireside conversations, panels, case studies and an exhibition, the programme explores clean, green factories, regenerative fibres, textile waste, kelp innovation, cheap fashion, African production, indigenous knowledge, biomaterials, cultural sustainability and new routes from studio to market. Expect rigorous ideas, honest debate and creative energy from voices working across fashion, ecology, industry, policy and design.

Join us in Cape Town for two days of insight, imagination and action, and equip you to co-create resilient African textile ecosystems.
