Step into a morning of creativity, connection, and joy in the heart of the KZN Midlands.
Join us for a hands-on art experience with the celebrated Ardmore artists—up close and personal—where you’ll learn techniques, creative tricks,
and the confidence to express yourself through art.
The Experience
The day begins at 09:00 with a welcoming cup of coffee, cappuccino, or hot chocolate, Followed by a spell binding talk by
DOUGLAS RATTRAY
Doug, a South African historian and storyteller will share vivid interpretations of the Anglo-Zulu War battlefields at Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.
10h30 Your Art class Begins
Meet your artist, settle into the studio, and ease into a guided morning of creativity.
No previous art skills are required. Whether you’re 8 or 80, the artists will gently guide and encourage you, helping you discover the simple pleasure of creating with your hands.
Choose Your Creative Journey
Sculpture
Mould and shape your own clay artwork under expert guidance. Your piece will be fired in the kiln and ready for collection by mid-July—a lasting memory of your creative day.
OR
Plate Decoration
Paint and decorate a plate, learning decorative techniques and storytelling through design. You’ll leave with your completed art piece on the day.
The Joy of Creating
There is something deeply grounding about slowing down, working with your hands, and allowing creativity to flow. Expect laughter, quiet focus, moments of surprise, and the simple pride of making something uniquely yours. You’ll leave inspired, fulfilled, and carrying a piece of art that tells your story.
Midday Indulgence
At 12:30 Explore the Museum then gather on the Gallery Terrace to enjoy a Harvest Table lunch.
