SACOMM 2026, hosted by the Wits Centre for Journalism

The 2026 South African Communications Association conference will be hosted by the Wits Centre for Journalism at Wits University, Johannesburg, South Africa, from 9 to 11 September 2026.

The 2026 conference theme is Asserting the Human in the Time of Technofeudalism and expects to draw journalism, media and communications scholars and educators from around southern Africa.

SACOMM has traditionally been a space for academics, professionals and practitioners, to meet and engage on pressing issues in their fields.

Registration is open to the public but includes a SACOMM membership fee.

An optional gala dinner will be held at Sakhumzi Restaurant, Zoo Lake on 10 September and is open to all conference delegates. The R600 fee covers food and drinks for the evening.
