ABOUT
Full Moon Hike on Intaka Island – Frogs Edition
Join Intaka Island for a guided Full Moon Hike and experience the reserve after hours as we explore the fascinating world of frogs by moonlight.
This special evening walk will focus on the frogs of Intaka Island, their calls, behaviour and vital role in healthy wetland ecosystems. Under the glow of the full moon, participants will have the opportunity to listen for different frog species, learn how to identify their calls and gain insight into why amphibians are important indicators of environmental health.
Led by knowledgeable guides, the hike takes place at the same time as previous Full Moon Hikes and is ideal for nature lovers, families, photographers and anyone curious about the hidden nocturnal life of the island.
Intaka Island is home to three commonly known frog species: the Painted Reed Frog, Clicking Stream Frog and Cape River Frog. We have also been fortunate to spot the elusive African Clawed Frog on the island.
