ABOUT

What We Bring To The Table is an intimate, sensory-driven two-hander that unfolds in real-time over the course of a single evening. Set in a domestic kitchen that feels like part-laboratory and part-confessional, the play follows two individuals as they navigate the complexities of a modern relationship while preparing a shared meal.

As the stovetop heats up, so does the dialogue. The play deconstructs the ingredients of intimacy—examining the weight of emotional labor, the performance of gender roles, and the thin line between desire and resentment. Through the rhythmic chopping of vegetables and the pouring of wine, the kitchen becomes a battlefield and a sanctuary where queer and heterosexual perspectives on love collide and coalesce.

The production uses the act of cooking as a powerful metaphor for the labor we invest in one another: what we choose to offer, what we withhold, and the messy, beautiful table we eventually sit at together. It is a bold exploration of vulnerability that asks: when the meal is served and the masks are off, what do we truly bring to the table?
