ABOUT
Despite the vast amount of invective heaped upon them, the transcriptions have stubbornly refused to disappear, despised by critics yet enjoyed by musicians; they are even experiencing something of a renaissance nowadays. This programme aims to remind us of the double musical potential and interest of this form. Transcriptions reveal the musical thinking of a composer who is moved and inspired by the artistry of other composers, while recognizing that the musical substance of the underlying works is not static but capable of constant reworking and evolution. The transcriptions are more than monuments to other men's greatness. They are eloquent and moving testimonials to a different kind of musical beauty.
Ida Pelliccioli, born in Bergamo, Italy, studied at the Nice Conservatoire de Région and the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot in the class of Serguei Markarov (UNESCO Artist for Peace). She received scholarships from the Zygmunt Zaleski Foundation and the Fondation Albert Roussel, and completed double diplomas in interpretation and pedagogy at the École Normale. She has participated in masterclasses with Jean-Claude Pennetier and Gerard Wyss, received artistic guidance from Norma Fisher, and is among the few pianists mentored by Cuban concert pianist Jorge Luis Prats. Choosing not to enter the international competition circuit, Ida completed a double master's degree at Sorbonne University, specialising in Italian Literature and Ancient Greek History, with a focus on the practice of music during the Hellenistic period. She has performed throughout Europe, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. In 2024, she made her debut in Sweden, Lithuania, Austria, Iceland, and Australia, followed by debuts in Singapore and Thailand in 2025. Highlights of her 2024–2025 season include performances at the National Gallery (London), the Royal Theatre and Concert Hall (Nottingham), and the Lyceum Club (Florence) in collaboration with Amici della Musica di Firenze. A committed advocate for contemporary music, she performed works by Polish composer Elzbieta Sikora with soprano Joanna Freszel live on France Musique in 2023.
Ida also collaborates widely across artistic disciplines. She appeared on screen as a pianist in the American TV series Find Me in Paris (Seasons 1 and 2), the French series Munch (2018) and Le diplôme (2025), and served as the piano double in the 2019 short film Quand on ne sait pas voler, directed by Thomas Keumurian and produced by FILMO.
Since 2021, Ida has held a teaching position at the Paris Conservatoire du 8ème arrondissement. She is also training as a sommelier, having earned the international WSET Level 2 certification in wines, and is developing a series of oenological concerts that pair selected wines with her performance repertoire.

Transcription occupies an essential place in piano literature; from the proper perspective, every great piano work is a reduction, it is the essence, in all its greatness, which is thus reduced, and the piano is the means of this operation...Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms, all thought there was value in transcription.
From a letter from Ferruccio Busoni to his wife, July 1913
