ABOUT

“Bend and Snap” your way into a world of courtrooms, courage, and colour!

Think pink this March as Maris Stella School, by arrangement with DALRO (Pty) Limited (www.dalro.co.za), proudly presents Legally Blonde The Musical JR.

Based on the popular film by Amanda Brown and the Broadway sensation, Legally Blonde The Musical JR. follows the transformation of Delta Nu sorority president Elle Woods. She seems to have it all: great style, a relationship with the “campus catch,” and a bright future ahead. However, her life is turned upside-down when her boyfriend, Warner, leaves her in pursuit of a more “Serious” path at Harvard Law School.

Determined to prove that she is more than meets the eye, Elle takes matters into her own hands: crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school with the iconic number “What You Want”. Once at Harvard, she is challenged by her peers, professors, and her ex, but finds support in new friends — including the spunky hairdresser Paulette and the hardworking Emmett. As Elle begins to realise that brains and beauty are not mutually exclusive, she starts outperforming her classmates and discovers that the law may be her natural calling after all.

With Elle’s fearless “what, like it’s hard?” attitude and her belief that "being true to yourself never goes out of style", Legally Blonde The Musical JR celebrates confidence, kindness, and courage in every scene. Bursting with infectious music, dynamic choreography, and plenty of humour, this production is a celebration of live performance. It showcases the talent, commitment, and creativity of our Maris Stella performers, alongside several guest performers from neighbouring boys’ schools. From sorority sisters to courtroom showdowns, every moment shines with energy, heart, and confidence as it tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal.

Featuring a sparkling, contemporary score by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and a sharp, witty book by Heather Hach, this hit musical is packed with catchy showstoppers, clever ensemble numbers, and emotionally resonant ballads.
