Have you ever wanted to visit a cemetery simply to enjoy its peace and quiet — but felt hesitant to go alone? The Friends of Johannesburg Cemeteries invite you to Braamfontein Cemetery for a relaxed, welcoming day in this historic and tranquil space.

Friendly members of the Friends of Johannesburg Cemeteries will be present to answer questions, share insights, or simply offer reassurance.

While you are there, our FOJC volunteers will also be conducting one of their regular clean-up sessions. Your participation is entirely optional. You are just as welcome to come along and lay out a picnic blanket, sketch or paint, write or read, photograph the grounds, or simply sit, wander, and be.

Braamfontein Cemetery has seen significant improvements, including enhanced security — and we believe there is comfort and confidence in being there together.

Please remember: Pack it in. Pack it out. If it came with you, it must leave with you (yes… including your family and friends).

No music, loud or boisterous activities allowed. Unfortunately, no dogs are allowed. Numbers are limited and advance booking is essential for security and access reasons.
