Romance is the fastest-growing, best-selling genre in fiction writing, and we have a specially curated course ready and waiting for romance enthusiasts!

Whether you're an avid romance reader or aspiring writer, or both, or just enjoy binge-watching rom-coms, celebrate the month of Saint Valentine with Write Jozi's one-day Romance Writing workshop. Love is in the air!

We'll explore

• Romance sub-genres and tropes
• How to create compelling characters and plots
• Using romance beats for story structure
• How to write your own romance

If you're already working on a romance novel, we'll provide developmental support for your concept and ideas, help you with motivation to finish the project, and give good advice on the way forward. If you're just starting out, this workshop gives you important tools to craft your story, understand what readers want, and decide which aspects of the romance genre suit your style of writing. If you are writing in another genre but want to include a romance sub-plot, this workshop provides excellent tips on how to incorporate chemistry into your text.

We'll unpack what makes Romance a popular genre, analyse the world's favourite love stories, and unlock creative vision and voice. This workshop is designed to cater for novices and writers alike, no matter one's tastes, background or experience. Romance is a vast and varied terrain in storytelling. There's narrative space for everyone!
