ABOUT

Sankofa Nite is a cultural gathering rooted in African sound, movement, and shared memory.

This night is about bringing the continent into one room.

Different rhythms. Different steps. One pulse.

We begin with a Kizomba dance Lesson & Activation from Baila Afrika – close, grounded, relational – where bodies reconnect and the floor finds its breath. From there, the night opens into Afrobeats and Dancehall, sounds that travel easily across borders, languages, and cities. The rhythm deepens through Afrohouse, before reaching full release with Gqom – raw, percussive, and physical – the peak of the night.

A live Afro performance by Femi Koya and his band carries the spirit of African live music – call and response, horns, rhythm, sweat. Not to perform for the room, but to move with it.

Throughout the night, Nkhensani Baloyi and group leads dance activation and curated movement. Not as spectacle. As invitation.

You don’t watch. You join.

This is not a club night.

It is a gathering. A meeting of cultures. A shared rhythm.

To be present is to be part of an Afrofuturistic movement – rooted in where we come from, shaping what we are becoming. A movement designed to grow, travel, and evolve into a festival.

African sound.

One floor.

One people.

This is Sankofa Nite.
