Friday Night Live with LIBØ & Ilithalelanga

Friday Night Live is a series of beautiful, intimate performances from some of the most exciting talent Cape Town and South Africa has to offer, hosted at the KAYA Café. Friday Night Live is an event for performers to take in their own direction, creating an environment for audiences to engage deeply with the music, the meaning, and the people behind it all.

Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, LIBØ is a vocalist, singer-songwriter and a guitarist. He is a versatile artist who plays around with different sounds, making it hard to categorise him in a genre but often magic is created. He’s currently an undergrad student at South African College of Music studying Jazz.

He has graced the stages of the Baxter Theatre, Athletic Club & Social, The Artscape, Selective Live and stages around Switzerland. He made his first project in 2023 called ‘Sondela' and recently released his single ‘NJENA'.

Ilithalelanga is a dynamic vocalist with a soulful voice that captivates the audience. With a rich repertoir of original compositions, Ilithalelanga has also shared the stage with renowned artist such as Owethu Ndwandwe, a pianist from Kujenga and Mthimkhulu Stuurman an incredible trombonist, blending African rhythms with unique Jazz interpretations.

Ilithalelanga is also a member of the University of Western Cape Creative Arts Choir, and was part of the Imbewu Marimba Ensemble led by Lungiswa Plaatjies a very respected muisician and instrumentalist. With these experiences they have deeply shaped her musicality and ensemble work.
