The evening begins with a planet walk, led by members of the West Rand Astronomy club. After the walk, participants can make there way to the Ecological Centre for a astronomy presentation. After the presentation, telescopes will be available for observing the night sky. This magical family-friendly event promises an exciting and educational night for visitors of all ages.

What to Expect Arrival & Planet Walk

Gates open at 16:45. Please ensure you bring your ticket for entry. Upon arrival, you will receive red cellophane and an elastic band to cover your torch or cell phone light. Red light helps preserve night vision and minimises disturbance during observations. Please gather at the “Sun” jungle gym at 17:00 for the popular Planet Walk. Directions will be available at the entrance. Depending on attendance, multiple walks may be conducted.

On the evening, please remember to bring your ticket, a torch or cell phone, and warm clothing and extra layers, as it becomes very cold after sunset

Astronomy Presentation

At 18:00, one of the knowledgeable members of the West Rand Astronomy Club (WRAC) will present an engaging astronomy talk in the Eco Centre.

Following the presentation, telescopes will be set up in the amphitheatre for guided night sky viewing.
