ABOUT
Concert 1: Diving into Dowland: a concert of Dowland’s greatest hits with the masterclass participants
This year marks the 400th year anniversary of the death of composer/lutenist John Dowland (1563-1626). To celebrate his work as the father of the lute song genre to which we owe our name, Lutesong Consort will be hosting a series of events at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, De Waterkant, Cape Town. This particular concert will feature singers from high school to professional level who had taken part in a series of workshops and masterclasses leading up to this event. They will present some of Dowland's most famous songs in both their solo and ensemble format. With accompaniment by Uwe Grosser (lute) and Colleen Oxtoby (viola da gamba).
