ABOUT

Where Soweto meets Francophone Africa

Eyethu Heritage Hall, in partnership with Alliance Française Soweto and the French Institute of South Africa, presents the 2nd edition of the Eyethu Franco Xchange, a space for exchanging stories, ideas, and connections between eKasi and Francophone African communities.

Sonic Experience: Black City Culture, led by Arnold Sibanda, with Laurent Bizot of Paris-based No Format! Record Label, will guide us through Francophone African jazz, traditional kora, and stories in every note, setting the tone for the evening.

Film Screening: Atlantique by Mati Diop, a mesmerizing Senegalese story of love, mystery, and social reality, subtitled in English, that lingers long after the screen fades.

Curated Conversation: Currents of Connection: Migration, Memory & Storytelling Across Borders, featuring Dr Teddy Mattera (Head of Film & TV, Wits), moderated by Thembi Zikalala (actor & creative environment practitioner), explore the film’s themes, migration, memory, and the power of storytelling across communities.

Be part of the exchange.
