St Georges Unplugged - Free Classical Lunch Concerts in the heart of the City.
1.15pm to 2pm every Tuesday and Thursday from 13 January to 26 March 2026
Unplugged Concerts offer classical music in an informal and friendly way, featuring a diverse selection of professional musicians from the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra, freelance musicians, singers, as well as students from the SA College of Music, UCT.
Patrons are invited to sit, unwind, ‘unplug’ and contemplate through music in the iconic surroundings of St Georges Cathedral in the heart of the City.

Concerts are free of charge as the Cathedral remains an open space for all, but donations are welcome to help fundraise with a minimum of 70% going to support running costs of the Cathedral, with the remainder to support running costs of the concerts (piano maintenance, marketing, front of house, etc). Facility for credit card and cash will be available at the door. Donations can also be made in advance here at Quicket. No tickets /advanced booking required. Sponsorship of the Artists fees is being raised separately. Please see below for details
The St George’s Unplugged was established with two primary objectives:
- To connect individuals to the historic and spiritual surroundings of St George’s Cathedral, offering an in-depth experience through music, with immediate support being raised through donations collected at the door to assist with maintenance and repairs.
- To connect people living in and visiting Cape Town to the diverse and high-quality classical music industry present throughout the year.

Who are We
Louise Howlett is a seasoned performer and concert organiser. She is the manager of the prestigious Cape Town Concert Series, mentors young artists and is an established singer in her own right. She is also a regular presenter on Fine Music Radio – South Africa’s only classical and jazz FM radio station. Her monthly Unplugged Newsletter connects audiences to classical & jazz events across Cape Town. www.louisehowlett.com
Bazil Christians has been a fully qualified tour-guide since 2019. Prior to that, for many years he was involved in theatre management – skills which he now brings to his tours where he turns the complex histories, geographies, and cultures of the Cape region into engaging stories and enhanced experiences, often incorporating classical and jazz performances into his tours. www.baztours.co.za
