Cape Town Carnival 1KM Fun Run

Run the Carnival route before the parade begins.
Before the floats, music and performers take over the Green Point Fan Walk, you have the chance to experience the route in a completely different way - by running it.
The Cape Town Carnival 1KM Fun Run invites runners, carnival lovers, and costume enthusiasts to race a kilometer of the official parade route on Human Rights Day – 21 March 2026.
Participants will run from the corner of Chiappini Street and Somerset Road - the end of the parade route - to the parade start outside P12, finishing where the Cape Town Carnival parade begins later that evening.
With only 300 runners across three races, this is a limited opportunity to kick off Carnival Day with energy, colour and celebration.
RACE CATEGORIES
Three races will take place:
- Men’s Race
- Women’s Race
- Dress-Up Race – run the route in your boldest Carnival look. Dress-up is essential!
Each race is limited to 100 runners. Entries are on a first come, first served basis.
EVENT SCHEDULE
Registration: 3:00pm – 3:45pm
All runners must be ready at the start line by 4:00pm.
Race Start Times
- Men’s Race: 4:20pm
- Women’s Race: 4:30pm
- Dress-Up Race: 4:40pm
- Final runners expected across the line shortly after.
Prize Giving: 5:00pm at the parade start outside P12
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each race.
- 1st Prize - R 10 000 Takealot Voucher
- 2nd Prize - R 7 000 Takealot Voucher
- 3rd Prize - R 5 000 Takealot Voucher
ENTRY INFORMATION
Entry fee: R100 per runner
A water bottle is included for each runner.
Entries open 5 March and close 19 March, or once each race reaches capacity.

Tickets are non-refundable unless cancelled by the organisers.
