Pole Artiste - the artistic side of pole; expression, interpretation and movement.
Pole Provocateur - the exotic side of pole; sensual, heels and flexibility.

THE POLE FACTOR CAPE TOWN RETURNS TO THE STAGE THIS DECEMBER
The third annual Pole Factor competition will be held in Cape Town on Saturday, 2 December when pole dance students and instructors from around the country gather to showcase their skills in front of judges and audience members alike.

As per previous years the format of the event will remain the same, aimed at celebrating the athleticism and artistry of pole dance across four very different genres of the sport including Pole Acrobat, Pole Artiste, Pole Provocateur and Pole Duets.
  • Pole Acrobat - the sporty side of pole; strength, power, agility and athleticism
  • Pole Artiste - the artistic side of pole; expression, interpretation and movement
  • Pole Provocateur - the exotic side of pole; sensual, heels and flexibility
  • Pole Duets - doubles on the pole; two dancers incorporating any of the three styles above

Entries opened earlier this year to pole dancers for the four genres. Twenty finalists across these divisions have been announced and their competition preparations are underway, but at the end of the night only eight will walk away with titles:
  • Pole Acrobat - amateur and professional
  • Pole Artiste - amateur and professional
  • Pole Provocateur - amateur and professional
  • Pole Duets - amateur and professional

The third annual event promises to be the best one yet as each year sees marked growth in the number of entrants and audience members, as well as brighter performances offering more and more daring defeats.
Organiser of The Pole Factor and owner of The Pole Project studio, Kathy Lee, says; “This is The Pole Project's third year hosting the event and the Nassau Centre’s second, so from an organisational perspective we are ready to rock. The surprise element comes on the day as our finalists’ routines and costumes are kept secret until their big reveal on stage. It gets progressively harder to pick absolute winners because the quality and effort of the performances get so much better each year. Needless to say, we are excited to see what these guys and girls bring to the table in 2017.”

Head judge, Benita Bouwer, is a previous winner of The Pole Factor Cape Town competition. Amongst other wins, she holds the title of International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF) 2017 Female Athlete of the Year and World Record Holder in the Masters 40+ division. Bouwer adds; “I have competed at many pole dance events across the globe and I can safely say that The Pole Factor Cape Town is one of my favourites. The event itself has proven that it can compete with international events of the same nature, entrants bring world-class performances to the stage and the buzz behind the curtain is so supportive. Although I’m not competing this year, I am looking forward to judging, and quite frankly, the harder the better... it just means that we're seeing the absolute best in the country go head-to-head.”

The event will be held at the Nassau Centre, Groote Schuur High School from 19h00 - 21h00. Tickets are being sold via Quicket at R250.00 per person. Drinks and snacks will be on sale at the venue on the evening.

This event would not be possible without the help of amazing sponsors like X-Pole South Africa and Fria’s Superfoods.
