ABOUT
A magnificent collaboration of artistic talent in belly dance art, from South African teachers/performers/dance schools and further abroad, coming together for three performance presentations.
The celebrated star of 2017 TODF is Jillina Carlano from L.A., serving for almost a decade as the artistic director and main choreographer of the Bellydance Superstars and performed with them for over 700 shows in over a dozen countries. Jillina is the owner of Evolution Dance Studios, located in North Hollywood, California, USA. The studio provides rehearsal space to some of Hollywood’s top artists- Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance- and serves as a focal point for the Los Angeles Dance Community.
Jillina will perform in the 2017 TODF Gala Show at 8pm on Saturday 28 October at the SA National Circus, 2 Willow Road Observatory, along with the full teaching panel of 2017 TODF, including Sascha Olivier-Sampson (Namibia) Ioanna Piagalis (Pretoria) Levona Bredenkamp (George), Michelle Potgieter (Cape Town), Jessica Perelson (P.E.), Jamilah Karjeen (Somerset West), Mandy Lapperts (Cape Town), Urshulah du Preez (West Coast), Melanie Hurter (Cape Town) and festival organiser Beverli Al-Masrah (Cape Town).
The semi-and-pro performance show features the cream of South African bellydancers presenting their work at 6pm on Saturday 28 October at the SA National Circus, 2 Willow Road Observatory.
The open stage from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October at the SA National Circus, 2 Willow Road Observatoryholds all the surprises with groups and soloists from near and far bringing the magic of their work to the public. Featured are dancers of all ages and at all levels of dance, taking the opportunity to shine and explore their work.
