Tee Therapy: A Craft, Culture & Conversation Workshop
Saturday, 13 December 2025
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
A42 Art House, 6A 8th Avenue, Parktown North
Tee Therapy is a creative, hands-on workshop exploring the cultural lives of T-shirts in South Africa — how they shape identity, speak about women, and travel across global and local systems of meaning. Through conversation, storytelling, and guided upcycling, you will transform secondhand T-shirts into expressive artworks using techniques such as beading, embroidery, appliqué, and weaving.
No experience is required — just curiosity and creativity. All materials and tools will be provided along with hands-on guidance from facilitators Khensani and Andria.
Your ticket includes:
- A selection of curated T-shirts
- A sewing kit to take home
- All materials, tools, and equipment on the day
- Guided instruction in embroidery, crochet and applique for all skill levels
- Refreshments and lunch (please specify any dietary restrictions or allergies at checkout)
Limited parking available—we recommend using Uber or ride-share. The session will be photographed and recorded.

Tee Therapy forms part of T-Shirt Tales, a transcultural artistic research project using the T-shirt as a material and methodological lens for unpacking communication, symbolism, and global exchange. The workshop positions all participants as co-researchers — not passive subjects — and treats making, dialogue, and craft as legitimate forms of knowledge production. The session will be photographed and recorded.
