Welcome to the Langebaan to Saldanha Downwind Dash!

Beach Sailing Club
The 32nd running of the prestigious Langebaan to Saldanha Downwind Dash will be held over the weekend 26 - 28 January 2018
This challenge, which is open to windsurfers, kite boarders, hobie catamarans and sailing dinghies.
The race attracts leading international competitors, but is also an opportunity for all levels of expertise, juniors, family groups and leisure sailors to test their skills.
Programme
Registration at Marra Square Langebaan 9h00 – 12h00
Thanks to Nick Lightbody of High Constantia Properties for sponsoring the Mara Square.(Ensure that your timing tag is on your vest and exposed. It is your responsibility to ensure that your race number is visible on your back.
If the finish judges cannot see the number, you will not be recorded.)
Please read the racing rules and guidelines for rescue before taking part.
All tags must be returned immediately after the race and will be collected by a beach marshal.
Please hand in your tag at the end point to receive your medal, if you do not hand your tag in you will be disqualified.
Race Start from Langebaan 14h00. (we reserve the right to start as late as 15:30 for wind and kite and early as 13:30 for hobie cat.

WIND / KITE / HOBIE / DINGY - Langebaan Beach between 14:00 - 15:00
Briefing at the SAFE THE LAGOON AND COKE Can on the main beach
Finish at Saldanha Beach Sailing Club. - last marker - Finish yact - Liberty in front of the Beach Club
SUP/SURFSKI - Langebaan Yact Club
- Colin will brief paddlers on 5 min start sequence, flags and horn etc.
- Colin’s boat will have a rope on back they can hold onto and wait for start.
- All paddlers to leave beach or LYC by 2.15 latest and make their way to west side of Schaapen Island.
- SUP and Surfski paddlers briefing on Sand Bay Beach, bottom of Kotze Street 1.30pm
Finish at Saldanha Beach Sailing Club, more left towards the Hunters and Yellow Flags
The tide conditions are not favourable for a large beach area at the finish. Kiters are therefore requested to move along the beach and drop their kites as quickly as possible.
Protests
The officials cannot watch everything that goes on at the start and in the water. If you see someone cheating, there will be protest forms available at the finish.
