SLS Consulting is hosting a three-part series over the next few months specifically aimed at small business owners. We will be focusing on the financial, legal and investment fundamentals that all business owners should be mastering to ensure the long term success of their businesses.
Using a three-part series approach each workshop is specifically targeted at the appropriate level. For the beginner entrepreneur still considering whether to formally register a company, we suggest starting with workshop one and progressing through to workshop three, thereby building the correct foundation.
For the more experienced business owner already managing an established business looking to optimize and streamline their businesses’ finances, we propose starting at workshop 2 or 3.

2. Top 10 legal requirements for start-ups
• The business plan – as a roadmap of your business - what should it include and why is it necessary.
• Memorandum of Incorporation – what does the standard MOI look like and when is it necessary to make amendments
• Shareholders agreement / association agreement / partnership agreement – does your agreement cover aspects like members contributions, sale of interest and death?
• Employment Contracts – are both parties protected?

• Non-disclosure / Confidentiality Agreement – A discussion of when this agreement should be signed

About the speakers
Stephanie Snyman - Head of Financial Advisory
Stephanie is a Chartered Accountant with over 12 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry. She has her Masters Degree in Corporate Tax and is also registered as a Master Tax Practitioner with SARS.
Janine Viljoen - Head of Legal
Janine is an Admitted Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer. Janine has her LLB degree and over 14 years’ experience. She also heads up her own law practice.
Matthew Berry- Head of Investments
Matthew is a licensed FSP with over 13 years’ experience in the industry. He also has a B. Com Law degree and is currently completing his MBA at Mancosa.
