Join two world-class musicians, cellist Aristide du Plessis and pianist Jan Hugo, for an intimate evening of chamber music. Held in the acoustically beautiful and historic setting of The Old Chapel Music Room, this recital showcases three giants of the repertoire: Beethoven, Fauré, and Brahms.

Aristide du Plessis (Cellist)

Aristide du Plessis is a highly renowned cellist, known for his "positively explorative musicality" and "conquering brilliance" in technique. He is an intuitive player with an inborn expertness of phrase. UK-based, he frequently works with top orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist, he has performed with all of South Africa's leading orchestras since the age of 15. Aristide plays on a 19th-century reconstructed Vuillaume Cello and a rare Charles Buthod bow (circa 1889).


Jan Hugo (Pianist)

Pianist Jan Hugo is an internationally recognized artist, making his debut at age 12 with the Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra. Having studied in Italy, Germany, and France, he is a top prize-winner in South Africa and Europe, including the 1st prize at the Royal Overseas League Piano Competition in London. He has performed in major concert halls across Europe, including the Salle Gaveau in Paris and the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Jan also specializes in historical instruments and recently completed a Master’s degree in Research and Practice on the fortepiano at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
