New Year’s Eve Sunset Hike at Muratie

Ring out 2025 with a bubbly toast on the mountain!

Tickets sell out every year and online booking is essential for the magical New Year’s Eve Sunset Hike at Muratie Wine Farm, hosted by Dirtopia Trail Centre.

The scenic route winds through vineyards to a lookout point with breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the Winelands — the perfect backdrop to celebrate the last sunset of the year with friends and family.

What’s included:

A glass of Muratie’s Lady Alice MCC will be waiting for you at the top as you take in the sunset. (Kids get juice!)

What to bring:

• A blanket to sit on while you enjoy the sunset & moonrise beneath the Simonsberg
• Your own picnic, or bring cash/card to enjoy wine from the Muratie wine station at the lookout
• Warm clothing for after dark
• Torch and good hiking shoes (the trail includes steps and uneven terrain)

Trail info:

• Marked circular route – approx. 3.3km total
• 30–45 min to reach the lookout
• Please arrive by 18h15, and no later than 19h15 to start your hike in time for the full experience
• All hikers must leave the lookout by 20h30 (farm closes at 22h00)

Cost:

• Adults: R225 pp (includes a glass of MCC)
• Children under 10: R95 (includes one juice)

Dirtopia Trail Centre, Muratie Wine Farm, R44 between Klapmuts & Stellenbosch

Snacks and cooldrinks available at the Trail Centre, or bring your own treats to enjoy at the top.

Please note: No smoking on the mountain. No toilets at the look-out.
