Set against the natural beauty of Table Mountain National Park, this outdoor picnic style art class invites you to paint South Africa’s national flower, the Protea — a symbol of strength, resilience, and diversity. Known for its bold structure and timeless beauty, the protea represents our rich natural heritage and makes for a striking artwork to take home. Enjoy a beautiful day out in nature, painting along the water's edge with your loved ones. It truly is the best way to spend a Saturday!

We’ll guide you step by step, making this experience perfect for all skill levels and the whole family — no painting experience needed. You’ll also get to work with gold leaf, a truly special medium that adds texture, shimmer, and a touch of magic to your painting.

We run these workshops because we find painting extremely therapeutic - our workshop is a safe space to explore your inner creativity and hopefully learn new skills. There is no right or wrong when it comes to art. We invite you to relax, get lost in the colours and the sound of birds around you.

Directions:

Enter Gate 1 and once you’ve gone through the boom gate, drive all the way to the end of the road up to the Silvermine Reservoir. We’ll meet you at the parking lot where the walkway to the dam starts and do a short walk (roughly 10 minutes) to our beautifully styled outdoor art setup, where everything will be ready for you to simply arrive, sip, paint, and enjoy along the water’s edge. We have found a fairly wind-protected spot next to the dam.

Please note: There is limited to no signal at Silvermine. Entrance into Silvermine Nature Reserve is not included and must be purchased separately on arrival - pricing differs for local and international visitors. Please remember to bring your ID - South African residents get a discounted fee. Card facilities are unavailable, they only accept cash.

This is an outdoor Sip & Paint experience at Silvermine and therefore weather dependent. In the event of heavy rain, extreme wind, or unsafe conditions, we reserve the right to reschedule. We will do our best to notify you in advance and tickets will remain valid for the new date.
