This morning workshop at The Writing Room will equip you with the tools to make money as a freelance writer. Whether it's glossy magazines, trade magazines or e-zines, there is a strong market for freelance writing, and an opportunity to sell stories internationally as well as locally. Join magazine editor Sarah Bullen and learn the tricks of the trade. 

YOU WILL LEARN
•    how to structure and write a good story
•    what editors and writers look for in a story
•   what is a story hook
•    how to write for audience, 
•    the basics of journalism 
•    writing headlines that sell 

Like all our courses we are not just going to teach how to do it, we are going to show you how to do it yourself. During the morning you will be writing, coming up with ideas and improving your basic journalism skills. You can also use these techniques to promote yourself and/or your company.

•    how to write travel writing, op-eds, blogs how-to stories, features and compiled stories

YOU WILL LEAVE WITH

Note: This course is suitable for writers with no experience in Journalism. It is also suited to up-skill junior reporters or working journalists. We also run the course in-house at magazines if there are 4 or more delegates.

•    Experience in writing a number of articles in various formats. 
•    An understanding of what makes a good story
•    A list of 10 stories ideas to write and pitch
