Cultural Identity and Placemaking – Questioning Our Current Experiences

In 2025, we see more conversations about self-determination, but what does that really mean for someone living on the Cape Flats?

This discussion explores who we are as a people, what connects us, and how our history has shaped our present. Together, we’ll talk about what makes our communities unique, the challenges we face, and how we can create safe spaces for learning, healing, and understanding.

The session will touch on themes such as racial trauma, community history, policy advocacy, sport, wellness, and identity all through the lens of lived experiences from the Cape Flats.
