This light-hearted concert celebrates the magic of birdsong and flowers, sunshine and snow, alongside a small exhibition of nature-inspired artworks by Alastair Findlay. Playful animal tales sit alongside calm night songs, gentle rains, and summer evenings, weaving humour, nostalgia, and awe into a choral tapestry evoking the wonders of nature.
Our fun and dynamic program ranges from the wit of Banchieri’s ‘Contrapuncto bestiale’ through endearing Renaissance gems like Vautor’s ‘Sweet Suffolk Owl’. Evocative songs from the Romantic and twentieth-century eras include works by Elgar, Vaughan-Williams, Delius, Britten and Debussy. Light works by John Rutter and lush arrangements of jazz standards like ‘Lullaby of Birdland’ round out a program that invites you into the loveliness of the natural world.
