It’s no secret that, the travel and tourism industry is a booming one in South Africa, Cape Town being the hub of tourism in the country. Technology and innovation in the industry has advanced from just booking systems to accommodation virtual tour guides among other amazing things - this month we have key role players in the industry and a showcase of startups to watch. We have an exciting night lined up with great speakers. 
 
Master of Ceremonies: Abongile Nzelenzele



Abongile Nzelenzele Is an Entrepreneur, Public Speaker, Avid communicator and the host of The EarlyBreakfast show with Abongile Nzelenzele on Cape Talk. Striving towards Excellence in leadership coupled with a strong passion for entrepreneurship, presenting and public speaking has seen him assume Senior Management roles at a young age. This opened the platform to tackle various issues at all organisational levels. Presenting to different organisations exposed him to unique cultures and individuals of different backgrounds. 

Keynote Speaker: Stephan Ekbergh



Stephan F. Ekbergh is a Swedish entrepreneur best known for his pioneering work in the online travel industry. He is the Chief Executive Officer and owner of Travelstart, one of the biggest online travel agencies in South Africa that has a web-presence in 5 countries in Africa as well as Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain.

Leigh Franks - Cape Town Tourism



Leigh has been with Cape Town Tourism since 2012, first as an independent consultant and appointed the Marketing Executive in 2016. She has played a significant role in creating marketing platforms and campaigns that not only get visitors into Cape Town, but support the education and upliftment of the local tourism industry. These include the City Twinning Marketing Agreement with New York's DMO, NYC & Company; the visitor centric Love Cape Town rebrand; and the imminent trial of the SMME Marketing Course.

Iain Manley - VoiceMap.me



Iain is the founder of VoiceMap, a platform for location-aware audio tours that started here, in Cape Town. It now has walks, cycles, drives, and boat rides in over 100 cities worldwide, created by a community of journalists, filmmakers, podcasters, tour guides, and even the odd celebrity.

Ian Haggie - Explore Sideways 



Ian heads up business development at Explore Sideways, a travel startup in Cape Town, South Africa. Ian oversee’s all corporate and trade partnerships and ensures continued business growth and positive client relationships. Ian has a passion for food, wine and travel that he shares through Explore Sideways and the travel industry, ensuring visitors experience the best of what South Africa has to offer.

Stephen Booysen - Hepstar



Stephen joined Hepstar in 2015 and is responsible for all the technology aspects of the business. As a start-up, Stephen architected and developed the first version of Hepstar’s engineering and more recently, with the company’s ongoing success, has been able to put together a great team of engineers to further innovate in the travel insurance vertical. Stephen represents Hepstar at various global events, with Silicon Valley based accelerator programme, Plug and Play Tech Center, being the latest global technology event.
