ABOUT
Día de los Muertos: A Celebration of Life and Remembrance
Join us for a soulful and sensory celebration of life and remembrance — Día de los Muertos / Day of the Dead — curated by Holistica Magazine and the Gaia Centre for Healing Arts.
Rooted in ancient Mexican tradition — and echoed across the world in festivals like All Saints’ Day, Samhain, and Halloween — Día de los Muertos honours the souls of the departed not through sorrow, but through joy, colour, ritual, and connection.
It is a time to remember and celebrate our ancestors, to give thanks for the gift of life, and to find beauty in the cyclical nature of existence.
Set within a beautiful Constantia estate, the day unfolds as a living ritual — a gathering to honour the dearly departed while celebrating being vibrantly alive.
What to Expect
The day will feature a Sacred Altar Exhibition by Luciana do Cabo, titled “Mother Muerte” — an expression of reverence in art form, honouring the layers of love and devotion that transcend time. All pieces from the exhibition will be available for sale, offering guests the opportunity to take home a fragment of this sacred experience.
- A communal altar created together throughout the day
- A welcome nootropic drink from Mush More
- Afro-Latino dance and movement sessions
- A Cacao & Grieving Ceremony led by Erika Kibar (R150 add-on)
- Face painting & flower crown creation inspired by Mexican tradition
- A Michelin-star-trained chef presenting a Mexican Cantina Tasting Experience with Santa Anna’s (R200 add-on)
- A sunset DJ set with RonYka followed by a fire offering closing ritual.
Guests are encouraged to dress up in true Día de los Muertos spirit — think vibrant colours, flower crowns, painted faces, that honour both life and the ancestors.
