Join writing coach Sarah Bullen for a practical and intensive workshop and learn how to plan, craft, write and submit a romance novel. We will focus on high-consumer romance styles .... think Mills&Boon, Harlequin, Avon, Sillhouette. Sarah has 29 published authors and climbing.

You can find out about Sarah and her international workshops and other courses at The Writing Room

Romance is a high-turnover genre and publishers are always looking for strong stories. This course will make sure you find a niche and get writing.

"I am a huge personal fan of romance novels in all shapes and forms.  Nora Roberts has got me through some of the hardest times in my life. Harlequin and Silhouette gave me my teenage fantasies. I have bookshelves packed with romance novels and when friends come over - those are the first books they grab. Yes we all want to read Milan Kundera, but we BUY the books we love. And global sales show those are romance novels!" says Sarah.

The digital publishing world has really been the biggest booster of the romance novel. Instead of ordering via post or sneaking it into your shopping as women used to - you can order online, any time and read it instantly.

The genre is filled with exciting new authors and sub-genres.

"This course is very hands-on. I like to push writers to plan and write a novel that has an end-goal of getting published. We focus here on getting you to write a genre romance."

E.L. James, Fifty Shades Darker

"Sarah I just got a US publishing contract for my Romance! I followed all your plotting methods and sent it off. I can't believe this is happening to me!" Nadine 2017

"I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the course in February. It was one of the most worthwhile things I have done in years. It has also given me some new ideas regarding a lengthy memoir that I have finished but am currently not happy with." -  Nadine Raal Wasserfall 2016

"My word count is currently 9000 words, not that great I know but I am working  to a 40 scene scaffolding. I am enjoying writing romantic/erotic fiction and never thought I would attempt something like this" - participant Cape Town 2017

I can tell you, I learned so much and couldn't wait to start reworking my manuscript.  -  Francine Beaton, 'Playing for Glory' Romance Series 2017, Cape Town (publishing deal in NY)

"Just to say how nice it was to meet you and to thank you for the absolutely fabulous course! I only wish I had met you or someone like you 30 years ago! If I had, I think maybe I would have been able to call myself an author today. I desperately needed that kind of guidance way back then from someone who knows the industry as you do." - Denise Pienaar 2017
