Grounded in neuroscience, child protection legislation, and evidence-based strategies, this training is both interactive and skills-focused, ensuring participants leave with tools they can immediately apply in their work with children and families.

• Understand ACEs and trauma types, and recognise trauma responses in children.
• Apply the principles of trauma-informed care (safety, trust, empowerment, cultural humility).
• Interpret behaviours through a neurobiological lens and support regulation.
• Show up for children with relational presence, attunement, and co-regulation strategies.
• Use grounding techniques to help children (and yourself) manage overwhelming moments.
• Navigate ethical responsibilities in line with South African child protection laws.
• Address cultural and systemic trauma while sustaining your own wellbeing in the face of vicarious trauma.
