ABOUT

Rob Caskie began storytelling in 2000 alongside David Rattray, on Anglo-Zulu War battlefields. His repertoire has expanded to include Polar exploration and Alaska, concentrating essentially on human stories. Regarded as a fine raconteur, Rob was inducted into the SA Speaker's Hall of Fame in 2019, and regularly speaks in the UK. Relocating recently to Cape Town, Rob loves the opportunity to entertain audiences in the theatres of their imagination, in trademark shorts carrying a stick.

More on the Event:

From riveting tales of polar exploration to narratives echoing on ancient battlefields, each story is a journey – meticulously researched, passionately told, and designed to captivate its audience. The focus is upon individuals or groups who have overcome challenges, achieved remarkable success, or demonstrated exceptional courage. These human tales inspire resilience, leadership, and unity, motivating personal and academic growth.

Always confident with people, I thrive on the challenge and reward of entertaining audiences in the theatres of their imagination and transporting them via the power of stories well told.

Since 2001, I have presented extensively in the UK, USA and South Africa to both corporate and private clients. My achievements were recognised with the honour of being invited to speak at the Royal Geographic Society in London, where I showcased my talk 'Going South with Scott & Shackleton', fulfilling my lifelong passion with Antarctica. I then went onto speaking at the Royal Geographical Societies in both Hong Kong and Singapore. The Professional Speakers' Association of South Africa have graciously inducted me into the Southern African Speakers' Hall of Fame.

I have regular engagements at conferences and seminars, as an entertainment speaker, specialist lecturer on cruise ships and at charity events. All of which make for a wonderfully fulfilling vocation.

I was born in 1966 and educated in the Natal Midlands, South Africa. After graduation with a Bsc. Hons. Degree in Agriculture and national service, I immediately made my mark on the guiding profession as a photographic safari guide and wildlife film-maker in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Experience in this field earned me a place as official photographer on Kingsley Holgate’s Afrika Odyssey expedition in 1993 along the waterways of Africa from Cape Town to Cairo.

With travel, people and photography firmly under my skin, I embarked on a four-year round-the-world expedition which took me through the UK, Europe, Israel, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. The last sixteen months of this trip were spent travelling and working in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Alaska. This global voyage cemented my interest in human stories, cultures and history.

In a world dominated by data-driven presentations I thrive on the challenge and reward of entertaining audiences, positively influencing their opinions. My tales touch hearts, kindle imaginations, and inspire action. With no reliance on technology, my words alone transport audiences to different times and places, offering profound lessons applicable to modern situations.
