ABOUT
The Johannesburg Parent & Child Counselling Centre (JPCCC) invites you to take part in our Trauma & Bereavement Course - a reflective and skills-based space to deepen your understanding of how to support individuals navigating loss, grief, or traumatic experiences.
About JPCCC
For more than 75 years, JPCCC has been part of Johannesburg’s mental health landscape. Originally founded as the Johannesburg Child Guidance Clinic, our centre has evolved into one of the city’s leading counselling and training organisations serving children, adolescents, couples, families, and schools. We believe that by equipping caring individuals with practical, compassionate counselling skills, we help strengthen not only individuals, but entire communities.
About the Course
For over 20 years, JPCCC’s counselling courses have helped people begin or deepen their ability to support others. The Trauma & Bereavement Course builds on foundational counselling skills and provides both theoretical understanding and practical tools for working sensitively with those affected by trauma and loss. Participants will explore emotional processing, trauma-informed care principles, and supportive ways to hold space for grief.
This course is ideal for those who are:
- Already equipped with basic counselling skills (through JPCCC or elsewhere).
- Interested in learning how to support people through grief, loss, or trauma.
- Looking to expand their capacity for deep listening, presence, and containment.
- Hoping to volunteer, complement their professional role, or continue their learning journey.
Why Online Training?
This course is offered online only, allowing participants from across South Africa and beyond to join. The virtual format creates accessibility and flexibility while maintaining interactive learning through guided discussions, reflective exercises, and experiential demonstrations with an experienced facilitator.
Why This Course Matters
Grief and trauma touch every community - yet few people feel equipped to respond with confidence and care. This course helps bridge that gap by preparing compassionate, grounded individuals to provide safe, attuned support to those in emotional distress.
