Zoliswa Kawe ... Empress Hotep

Zoliswa Kawe, also known as Empress Hotep, is a professional stage, television and film actress and reggae singer with more than 30years experience, born in Langa Township, Cape Town South Africa She started her acting career in 1985 at Nyanga Art Center, doing traditional dance and acting under tutors the late Stix Mzwakhe Mdidimba In 1986, In 1987 she was discovered by the late Professor Mavis Taylor who was the artistic director at Khwela Art Center and a lecture at the University of Cape Town In 1994, she joined Nico Malan, now Arts Cape Centre, as a freelance actress. She performed in many plays: like So What's New, Julius Caesar, Tempest, Beneficiary, Nothing But The Truth, Jonny Cockroach and many more On television she acted in Dramas, Trouble in Constantia Stokvel, Montana1&2, Traffic, Isikizi, Interrogation Room 1&2 Intersexions Isikizi 1, recent one The Kings of Jorbug, She’s also acted in movies Master Harold and the Boys and Sour eyes. Zoliswa has also had a passion for theatre in education and worked with Oscar Mpetha High School in Nyanga East, where they travelled to the UK for three years touring and running drama and African Dance workshops with English learners. She also worked with Ikwezi Primary School in Noupoort in the Northern Cape teaching drama. Every December she travels to Qwa-Qwa, Free State for a children’s summer camp where she volunteers her time teaching the participants drama and dance. It was in 2010 that she started to take her singing career seriously after she won an open audition to sing at the 2010 FIFA world Cup tournament. Since then, she has never looked back. She's been singing around the Cape Town, her home city. Africa, Ethiopia, Botswana and Lesotho In 2016, she started producing her music and worked on releasing her first CD. She released her album in 2017

2023 she released her second album, My Journey, Empress Hotep believes that her music speaks to all people, young and old. It is about the life we are living in and it serves to remind us of who we are and where we come from. It intends to motivate people to embrace love and humanity. Empress is a motivational, Speaker, Mentor, facilitator.
