M E T R O P O L I S
with a live original soundtrack performed by  THE MAKABRA ENSEMBLE

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of Fritz Lang's landmark silent sci-fi movie METROPOLIS, The Makabra Ensemble will perform their original soundtrack live to the screen for this timeless classic.
In the world of Metropolis the suffering workers live and struggle underground while the privileged bask high up in their towers. A woman who may be the saviour of the downtrodden is replaced by a cyborg to sow division and destruction!
One Show Only!

[see trailer below]

Having created new original soundtracks to classic silent films and performing them live for over a decade, THE MAKABRA ENSEMBLE returns to their favourite spot beneath the big screen as an institution of the HorrorFest's all-encompasing Halloween celebration.

The Makabra Ensemble has performed their soundtracks to a range of classic silent films since 2005 at the South African HorrorFest Film Festival, Oppi Koppi Music Festival, Sound On Screen film festival, Celludroid Sci-Fi film festival, Sound & Motion Studios’ White Room Sessions etc.
Visit www.terminatryx.com/makabra for more information on the band.

(If the on-line tickets are sold out, from 20 October please call the Labia Theatre on 021 424 5927 to inquire about physical ticket availability)

The Makabra Ensemble will breathe new life into this cinematic classic, the live soundtrack composers & performers consisting of members from TERMINATRYX / ISOBEL / V.O.D / F8 (Sonja Ruppersberg & Paul Blom), LARK (Simon "Fuzzy" Ratcliffe & Sean Ou Tim aka MR. SAKITUMI), classical music genius Matthijs Van Dijk and Ronnie Belcher (also from TERMINATRYX as well as THE DAMNED CROWS).

They utilise a wide range of acoustic and electronic instruments, voice and effects, giving the film a brand new perspective.

While viewers are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Halloween-, movie-, TV- or literary monsters (or any ghoulish, freaky costumes & make-up) throughout the HorrorFest's duration, this live soundtrack screening is where the best dressed winners will be selected (incl. prizes).

Live sound supplied by Pineapple.

For info on the rest of the HORRORFEST (running from 25 October - 3 November), which includes loads of movies, documentaries and several short film chapters (you're unlikely to see in any SA cinema), live soundtrack performance to a classic silent film, literature, market, Halloween dress-up competition and much more, head to www.HORRORFEST.info
