Enter the South African National Homebrew Championships 2025 here.
The competition is open to all brewers, as long as the beer was brewed on non-commercial brewery equipment. Basically, if you have the fanciest system or just the basics, you are welcome!
This is a registered BJCP event. Beers can be entered in any BJCP category. You will need to specify the BJCP category and subcategory for the beer you enter. Beers will be judged according to the BJCP 2021 Style Guide.
You will need to enter 4 bottles of beer for each entry. Bottles may be any size from 330ml to 660ml. Bottles to be unmarked and each bottle to be labeled with BJCP Bottle ID - download Bottle ID here. Labels to be attached to bottles with an elastic band. There will be entry drop off points around the country, please contact your homebrew club or contact [email protected] to find out where your nearest point is.
It is your responsibility to ensure your beer is dropped of at one of the locations before the entry deadline. No late entries will be accepted, and there will be no refunds allowed if you do not drop off your beers before the deadline (1600h on 20 November 2025).

2025 Competition will, once again, have categories:
Beers will be judged by style for overall points Best of SANHBC 2025 and also the following categories:
- Pale Beer (Colour range from Pale Straw to Deep Amber, ABV less than 6%)
- Dark Beers (Colour Range Amber Brown to Black, ABV Less than 6%)
- Strong Beer (ABV Greater than 6%)
- Aged and Sour Beer (Any beer that has been aged / Any Sour / Fruited beer)
- IPA (All IPAs as per BJCP Guidelines)
- Lagers (All Lagers as defined by BJCP Guidelines)
- Best New Brewer (beers brewed by Members of homebrew clubs who have been brewing less than 2 years at time of entry deadline)
Rules for each category:
- Minimum 3 entrants to receive gold. 6 for silver and 9 for bronze
- New brewer : Brewing for less than 2 years and must be a member of a South African Home brew club
