Our Stories, Our Voices: From Pain to Power – A Journey of Self-Discovery, 2nd Edition Book Launch

Ilitha Labantu is proud to announce the launch of the second edition of its anthology, Our Stories, Our Voices: From Pain to Power – A Journey of Self-Discovery, taking place on Heritage Day, 24 September 2025, from 2PM at Exclusive Books, V&A Waterfront.

This collection brings together deeply personal stories, poetry, and reflections by eight women from across Sub-Saharan Africa who have turned their pain into courage and their struggles into triumphs. Within its pages are testimonies of women who fought in the liberation struggle, survivors who endured violence and injustice, and visionaries who continue to shape the present. Each story is a testament to resilience, remembrance, and the power of women reclaiming their voices.

For over 36 years, Ilitha Labantu has been at the forefront of advancing the rights and dignity of women and children. Through the Isisele Senyathi Women’s Hub on African Women’s History, the organisation is committed to giving voice to the untold stories of ordinary women, leaders, and change makers who have helped shape the world we live in. This anthology forms part of a living archive, honouring the voices of the past while inspiring the voices of the future
