Africa Turns: A One-Night Double Bill of Reimagined Classics
Prepare for a compelling evening of theatre on 17 September at 7pm with *Africa Turns*, a one-night-only double bill presenting two innovative short pieces that reimagine timeless stories through fresh cultural and artistic lenses.
*Anansi and the Case of Wisdom* offers a vibrant, physical theatre retelling of the classic Akan tale from Ghana. This dynamic performance captures the spirit and wit of Anansi, the trickster spider, using movement and storytelling to bring the legend to life in a modern context.
Sharing the stage is *Intandane Yakwa Zhao (The Orphan of Zhao)*, a bold reimagining of the renowned Chinese play, also known as the “Chinese Hamlet.” This piece transforms the narrative into an evocative ensemble choral work, blending voice and movement to explore themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and justice.
Together, these two pieces represent a unique fusion of African and Asian theatrical traditions, showcasing adaptation and ensemble creativity in a powerful double bill not to be missed.
