Green Imbizo

The Green Imbizo on First Thursdays is delighted to host Ms Baratang Miya, founder and CEO of Girl Hype, a non-profit organisation which is focused on getting women into science, engineering, technology and maths (Stem).  Baratang has extensive experience in implementing innovative global programs that provide consistent impact to both women and educators having worked with companies like Blackberry, UN Women and Mozilla

Girl Hype presents girls and youth with an opportunity to participate, and develop technical competencies and social skills needed for full involvement in the new 21st century job market and tertiary level. The primary goal of the organization is to address unequal access to the opportunities, experiences, skills, and knowledge that will prepare youth for full participation in the world of the 21st century.

The Green Imbizo is a solutions space, where great ideas and solutions are championed in the quest to build a wellbeing economy that puts people and planet at the core of economic development. Imbizo is a Nguni word, which means a ‘gathering’. In African culture gatherings are an integral part of building harmony, conflict resolution and for celebrating victories.
