Hierdie aanbieding is nie lesings nie, maar ‘n “praktiese kursus” met die doel om as inspirasie vir gevestigde en ook beginnertuiniers in Stilbaai en omgewing te dien.
Voorbeelde van probleemplante en raad met die keuse van geskikte plaasvervangers, sal bespreek word. Dit geld ook vir die keuse van inheemse plantsoorte i.p.v. die tradisionele uitheemse tuinplante.
Die plaaslike groeitoestande (dikwels ongeskik) sal verduidelik word, asook voorbereiding van die grond tot geskikte groeimedium vir verskillende plantsoorte.
Praktiese planne, raad en oplossing van plantprobleme en ook raad om probleme te voorkom sal bespreek word.
Voorbeelde van geskikte plante as byvoorbeeld fokusplante, geskikte struike en bome sal voorgestel word.
Die belegging in terme van tyd in bome is groot. Dit neem ‘n hele paar jaar voordat ‘n boom “volwasse” word en nuttig is. Daarom is dit uiters belangrik om die regte boom op die regte plek in die tuin te plant.

This presentation is not lectures, but a “practical course” with the aim of inspiring established as well as beginner gardeners in Stilbaai and surroundings.
Examples of problem plants and advice on selecting suitable replacements, will be discussed. This will also apply to the selection of indigenous plant species to replace the traditional but foreign garden plants.
The local growth conditions (often unsuitable) will be explained, as well as the preparation of the soil to become a suitable growth medium for different plant species.
Advice and practical solution of plant problems as well as advice to prevent these problems will be discussed.
Examples of suitable plants to use for example as focus plants, as well as suitable shrubs and trees will be given.
The investment in terms of time regarding trees is considerable. Trees take years to grow into “adulthood” and be usable. Therefor selecting the correct and best suited tree for a dedicated space in your garden is important.
