FERNKLOOF FLOWER SHOW

The Fernkloof Flower Show is an annual event hosted by the Hermanus Botanical Society and held at the Fernkloof Nature Reserve in Hermanus.

Entrance to Fernkloof Reserve Trails & Plant Nursery is FREE

Show activities charged individually

HALL DISPLAY ON ‘SEED SECRETS’:

9am to 4pm daily

Cost: R50 adults cash/card/snapscan at the door or Quicket. Learners FREE

• Hundreds of flowering fynbos specimens, all of which produce seeds.
• Specimens arranged in plant families, identified and labelled with interesting facts.
• Information showing how the amazing shapes, coverings and appendages of seeds, enable them to move around and interact with animals, birds or insects.
• Flower arrangements focused on the plant families displayed.
• Books and other environmental products for sale on the HBS stand
• SANBI’s Millenium Seedbank Project team, showcasing their work.
• Hermanus Bird Club showing birds of the area, especially seed eaters.
• All day everyday – Quiz in the Hall for learners who like a challenge.
• Bunches of fresh fynbos flowers on sale at the door.

REFRESHMENTS:

Fynbos Café next to the Hall

• All day tea, coffee, juice, wine and beer and home-baked goodies
• From midday, light lunch from the braai

HEAVEN IN A MORNING’S WALK:

Walk in Fernkloof with a knowledgeable botanical guide

Meet outside the Hall: Frid 26^th, Sat 27^th, Sun 28^th 10am-12pm

Cost: R120 per person, Limited places available, pre-book on Quicket

• Enjoy Spring flowers, views of Walker Bay and Fernkloof mountains
• Learn how to use the iNaturalst app to identify plants

FUN FOR CHILDREN:

Donation/R50 - Booking not required

Saturday 27^th @ 3pm: Make your own mini garden, puppet show & jumping castle fun

• 3 pm – Puppet show in Afrikaans
• 3:30 pm – Puppet show in English
• Meet in the amphitheatre

Sunday 28^th @ 3pm: Treasure Hike

• Easy hike to the Waterfall (2.1 km) – fun treasures along the way!
• Meet at the Visitors Centre
• Children accompanied by an adult
