Lucia is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of extensive experience in various leadership roles within the finance and tax sectors. She dedicated seven years of her career to the South African Revenue Service (SARS), where she served as a Senior Specialist and was the Deputy Chairperson of the inaugural SARS Employment Equity Committee. In this capacity, she facilitated and chaired Alternative Dispute Resolution hearings between SARS and taxpayers, demonstrating her strong mediation skills and commitment to fair outcomes.

At Barclays, Lucia took on a pivotal role as the Chairperson of the Women in Finance Committee, where she promoted diversity and inclusion within the finance industry. She was also a significant contributor as a development and performance coach, providing guidance and support to individuals at various levels, particularly in leadership development coaching. Additionally, Lucia served as a board member and Vice President of the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT), where she continued to foster leadership performance through coaching and mentorship.

Throughout her career, Lucia has successfully led multinational teams across the African continent, overseeing the optimization of tax functions and ensuring effective tax risk management, policy development, and governance. Her expertise in managing tax risk, negotiations, and settlements is well recognized in the industry. She has demonstrated proficiency in cross-border restructuring, refinancing, mergers and acquisitions, tax planning, and transfer pricing.

Lucia is regarded as an adaptable and transformational leader, passionate about coaching and empowering others. She is a new generation thought leader who is dedicated to nurturing talent and driving positive change within her field. Her disciplines encompass tax and legal matters, tax forensic audits and assurance, negotiations and settlements, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
