Fantasy Violin and Piano

Violinist Piet Koornhof and pianist Jana Mathee join forces in a captivating duo recital presented by the NWU School of Music. Under the theme Fantasy, the programme explores a wide spectrum of imaginative sound worlds: the timeless spirituality of Arvo Pärt’s Fratres; the shimmering colours and jazz-inflected brilliance of Maurice Ravel’s Sonata No. 2; the lyrical charm of Milosz Magin’s Andante; the late-Romantic warmth of Robert Fuchs through a selection of his Fantasy Pieces and Intermezzi; and the poignant intimacy of Giya Kancheli’s Miniatures.
