Phila Dlozi : Live at the Basement

We are thrilled to invite you to an unforgettable evening with Phila Dlozi — one of South Africa’s most exciting young musicians to watch.

An Afro-Soul/Jazz sensation, Phila Dlozi weaves modern sounds with traditional and spiritual roots, delivering music rich with relatable stories and wisdom beyond his years. His journey began in kwaSokhulu, a small village outside Richard’s Bay, where a childhood encounter with Joyous Celebration first ignited his dream of a life in music.

From Durban to Johannesburg, Phila’s story is one of courage, resilience, and self-belief. Since 2021, he has risen from a powerful voice on the streets to an acclaimed artist whose discography bridges cultures and generations. His music has earned him international recognition — featured on Mzilikazi wa Afrika’s pan-African album RISE alongside icons like Salif Keita, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and Brenda Mtambo. His artistry has also caught the attention of American Grammy-nominated producer Jason Evigan, leading to Phila’s invitation to the 64th Grammy Awards in Las Vegas.

Phila’s voice and vision extend beyond music. He appears in the international documentary Move Me South Africa by Briana Evigan, celebrated at global film festivals. Yet, through all his milestones, he remains deeply rooted in his heritage. Raised by a healer, Phila now carries forward that legacy — healing the world through the gift of music.
