You are invited to the sixth annual Anton Lubowski Memorial Lecture celebrating the life of anti-apartheid activist and advocate, Anton Theodor Eberhard August Lubowski (3 February 1952 – 12 September 1989).
This year's lecture is especially meaningful, as Stellenbosch University proudly co-hosts it with the University of Namibia in Windhoek.
The lecture will take place both online and in-person. Please join our speakers, Prof Peter Katjavivi, Graham Hopwood and Rosa Namises, as they explore the theme From Exposure to Action: Strengthening Systems in the Fight Against Corruption.

Keynote speaker - Prof Peter Katjavivi
Prof Peter Katjavivi is a Namibian scholar, politician, and diplomat. A key figure in the country's liberation struggle, he went on to become the founding Vice-Chancellor of the University of Namibia and later served as Namibia's Ambassador to the EU and Germany. From 2015 to 2025, he was Speaker of the National Assembly of Namibia. Prof Katjavivi is also an accomplished author and the recipient of several international honours in recognition of his contributions to education, diplomacy, and democracy.
Graham Hopwood
Graham Hopwood is the Executive Director of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) in Windhoek, Namibia. The IPPR is an independent, non-profit non-governmental organisation that delivers analytical and critical research on social, political, and economic issues. His recent research work has focused on governance policies, the effectiveness of anti-corruption laws, extractive industry transparency, and the investment climate. In addition, he serves as Chairperson of the Civil Society Information Centre and sits on the board of The Namibian newspaper.
Rosa Namises
Rosa Namises is a Namibian politician and human rights activist. Her political activism led to her imprisonment and subsequent exile. After 1990, she obtained a Diploma in Adult and Basic Education from UNISA and a Diploma in Gender Development and Planning from the University of London. She also completed a Diploma in Women in Management, undertook paralegal training, and gained counselling and facilitation skills. Known as the "Rosa of Luxembourg of Namibia", she is the Director of Women Solidarity Namibia and the founder and driving force behind Dolam Residential Child Care.

Namises was also a personal and family friend of the Lubowski family in the late 1980's, during the liberation struggle.

Jy word uitgenooi na die sesde jaarlikse Anton Lubowski Gedenklesing ter viering van die lewe van anti-apartheidsaktivis en advokaat, Anton Theodor Eberhard August Lubowski (3 Februarie 1952 – 12 September 1989).
Vanjaar se lesing is besonder spesiaal, aangesien die Universiteit Stellenbosch dit saam met die Universiteit van Namibië in Windhoek aanbied.
Die lesing sal beide aanlyn en in persoon plaasvind. Sluit asseblief aan by ons sprekers, prof Peter Katjavivi, Graham Hopwood en Rosa Namises, wat die tema Van Blootstelling tot Aksie: Versterking van Stelsels in die Stryd teen Korrupsie, sal bespreek.

Hoofspreker - Prof Peter Katjavivi
Prof Peter Katjavivi is 'n Namibiese akademikus, politikus en diplomaat. Hy was 'n sleutelfiguur in die land se bevrydingsstryd, later stigter en Visekanselier van die Universiteit van Namibië, en het as ambassadeur van Namibië by die EU en Duitsland gedien. Van 2015 tot 2025 was hy speaker van die Nasionale Vergadering van Namibië. Prof Katjavivi is ook 'n bekroonde skrywer en het verskeie internasionale eerbewyse vir sy bydrae tot onderwys, diplomasie en demokrasie ontvang.
Graham Hopwood
Graham Hopwood is die Direkteur van die Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) in Windhoek, Namibië. Die IPPR is 'n onafhanklike, nie-winsgewende nie-regeringsorganisasie wat analitiese en kritiese navorsing oor sosiale, politieke en ekonomiese kwessies lewer. Hopwood se onlangse navorsing fokus op bestuursbeleid, die doeltreffendheid van anti-korrupsiewette, deursigtigheid in die ontginningsbedryf, en die beleggingsklimaat. Hy is ook voorsitter van die Civil Society Information Centre en dien op die raad van The Namibian.
Rosa Namises
Rosa Namises is 'n Namibiese politikus en menseregte-aktivis. Haar politieke aktivisme het gelei tot tronkstraf en later ballingskap. Na 1990 het sy 'n Diploma in Volwassenes- en Basiese Onderwys aan UNISA en 'n Diploma in Geslagsontwikkeling en Beplanning aan die Universiteit van Londen behaal. Sy beskik verder oor 'n Diploma in Vroue in Bestuur, het regsopleiding ontvang en vaardighede in berading en fasilitering aangeleer. Namises, bekend as "Rosa of Luxembourg of Namibia", dien ook as as Direkteur van Women Solidarity in Namibia en is die stigter en dryfkrag agter Dolam Residential Child Care.
