ABOUT
JABULANI AFRICA HERITAGE DAY CONCERT
The year 2025 marks 15 years since the founding of SSM Music and Arts, an organization that has come to play a pivotal role in empowering young people in South Africa through the arts. SSM Music and Arts is a Non-Profit Organisation which effectively trains young people (predominantly from the townships) in playing classical instruments. To date, we have impacted more than a 1000 young people.
As we celebrate this mile stone and in the spirit of promoting our beautiful Rainbow Nation, for the first time ever, SSM Music & Arts will be hosting a JABULANI AFRICA HERITAGE DAY CONCERT at Regina Mundi, a historical heritage sight. In this concert, SSM Music & Arts will be hosting three guest Youth Orchestra’s from Help Mekaar Kollege, St Stithians College and the National School of Arts. Not forgetting our home performance groups, the SSM Youth Orchestra and the SSM Wind Band.
Through this concert, we seek to celebrate and commemorate South African’s diverse cultural heritage. We would like to emphasize the value of diversity in the exclusive orchestra arena, especially in our townships. We seek to empower our young people, while showcasing how far SSM has come in producing confident and professional orchestra players in our townships.
