Sabu Jiyana's Matimba Ensemble

Sabu Jiyana's Matimba Project returns to the stage on 30 August with a powerful live performance that blends ancient African musical traditions with contemporary sounds.

Audiences can expect a rich sonic experience featuring indigenous instruments like the uHadi and uMrhubhe musical bows, mbira, nyungue-nyungue, and talking drum, layered seamlessly with modern instruments such as bass guitar, keyboard, saxophone, and drum kit.

This performance continues Matimba's mission of celebrating African identity through music, bridging the ancestral and the modern in a vibrant, pan-African soundscape.
