This is the 7th concert in the series: Unlock the Violin Sonata:
Richard Strauss: Violin Sonata in E-flat major, Op.18.
Johanna Roos (violinist) and one of South Africa’s most interesting and exciting young pianists, Gerhard Joubert, perform the late-Romantic Strauss Violin Sonata. It is mesmerising, bursting with youthful passion, soaring melodies, and is one of the most virtuosic sonatas of the genre.
Don’t miss this rare chance to hear Johanna and Gerhard in this masterwork that blends charm and romance, before Gerhard continues his piano studies in Switzerland in September.
The artists will introduce the sonata to the audience through an informal talk. To help the audience understand the composition, excerpts of essential themes, motives, and interesting effects will be played.
A performance of the Sonata follows this.
Concert duration: 1 hour.
Booking is essential through Quicket. Children under 12 are free.
